Dental disease is one of the most common -and most overlooked -health issues in pets. By age three, most dogs and cats already have some degree of it. Left untreated, it can cause pain, tooth loss, and serious problems for the heart, kidneys, and liver.Oso offers both non-anesthetic cleanings for routine maintenance and full anesthetic dental prophylaxis for thorough cleaning, imaging, and treatment. Annual dental checkups are an essential part of keeping your pet healthy and comfortable.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my pet needs a dental?
Bad breath is the most common sign. Reluctance to chew, pawing at the mouth, or visible tartar buildup are also indicators. Most pets over age three have some level of dental disease.
Is dental cleaning under anesthesia safe?
Very. Modern anesthesia protocols with pre-op bloodwork, IV fluids, and full monitoring make it a routine procedure. Dental disease left untreated causes far more harm than a proper cleaning ever will.
How often does my pet need dental care?
Varies by breed and individual pet. Small breeds often need annual cleanings; larger dogs may go longer. We assess at every wellness visit and recommend based on what we see.
